Subpages - drop-downs transparent

I have setup subpages using the album element.

Page Structure:
Home
Portfolio
Album1
Album2
…
About

However, when I preview the website, the drop-downs for the album subpages look very faint or transparent. Depending on the page in the background, the menu choices can be lost or muddled.
I am thinking the answer is to make the backgrounds on the drop-down a solid color (white) so they block the underlying page, but I do not see how to change this for the menu/dropdown link elements. Is there a method? Can you suggest another approach?

Dear Cass, I have made your menu filled with a solid color, so there is no more transparency in your submenus.

Thank you! I assume this is something I cannot set myself then? I do not have any immediate need for further drop-downs, so asking more for future reference.
